For the next week we will be working on writing assignments to improve your writing skills.
Monday: Watch CLUSTERING and BRAINSTORMING videos.
Choose a topic and practice clustering and brainstorming on that topic.
Tuesday: Now that you've brainstormed, you're ready to FREE-WRITE.
Watch the video on free-writing and free-write on your chosen topic.
Wednesday: Time to put all those thoughts in story form. Write a first draft, remember to add dialogue and details! Before you get started watch the video on dialogue and details.
Thursday: Show don’t Tell. Good writing shows the story. Watch the show don't tell video. Go to the Show Don't Tell blog and post a comment correcting the "tell" sentences to "show".
Now, go back and edit your first draft. Make sure you are showing
detail and not telling us detail.
Friday: Time to peer edit! Watch the peer edit video to learn how. Now trade paper's with a peer and edit for them with honesty and kindness!
